Pre Treatment Guidance

To ensure your suitability for a treatment and to get the most out of the experience, it is recommended that you follow the guidance advice for your chosen treatment before making your appointment. See below.

Every step is taken to ensure a client’s suitability for a treatment, so it is of the utmost importance that you disclose any medical matters or concerns in confidence. Certain medications or topical lotions you may use routinely can cause unwanted results, so please discuss this with us in advance of booking your appointment to avoid disappointment on the day.

There may be circumstances where medical consent must be sought before the treatment can be given, so please give some consideration to this and inform us at the time of booking if you have (or received treatment for within 5 years) any medical conditions or are taking any prescribed medication. You can then be advised if you need to seek GP/consultant consent.  Your safety and wellbeing are paramount.

Please read the terms and conditions page.

You will be asked to remove your shoes , but please keep socks on if you are suffering with any foot conditions such as athlete's foot or verrucae.  Thank you.

Pregnancy - Not all treatments are suitable during pregnancy, including LVL & Lash extensions.  Please let me know prior to any appointment if you are pregnant.

Children: Children under the age of 16 may receive certain treatments with the consent of their parent/GP, and with the parent present throughout the treatment.  Please discuss your requirements prior to booking an appointment. We respectfully ask that children in any other cases are not brought to your appointment.  Thank you.

Gentlemen:  Gentlemen are very welcome at The Garden Room.  A selection of treatments that may specifically appeal to men are on the men's page and male grooming page, though largely, most treatments are suitable for men and women.   Please do not confuse our business as a massage parlour.  You will be sorely disappointed :-)

Massage: We insist on a thorough consultation for all new massage clients prior to your first treatment.  This is to ensure your suitability and to complete a medical history.  It is also an opportunity for us to discuss your needs and expectations.  This will take approximately 20 minutes, so please allow time for this. It is our opinion that if you are familiar with your therapist and your environment prior to your treatment, you will achieve a deeper state of relaxation during your treatment. Please shower prior to your massage appointment.

Indian Head Massage: this massage can be performed clothed or with the upper back and arms exposed; with or without oil.  Can be performed either reclined on seated.  Please do not feel obliged to wash your hair prior to your appointment.

Hot Stone Therapy: please follow the same advice for Massage.

Reflexology: this is a wonderful therapy suitable for all, but not if you have athletes foot.  We will wear gloves if you have a verrucae, but ask you to respect our environment by keeping your feet covered at all times other than your treatment.

Manicure: please let us know in advance of your appointment if you suspect you may have any disorder of the nail or any skin conditions affecting the hands.  You cannot have a manicure at The Garden Room if you are wearing gels at the time of your appointment. We can only soak off our own applied Gel.  Please arrive for your overlays with a natural nail.

Pedicure: please let us know in advance of your appointment if you suspect you may have any disorder of the nail or any skin conditions affecting the feet, including verrucae, fungal nail infections  or athlete's foot.  In some circumstances, you may be referred to a Chiropodist.  Our service includes foot filing, to buff away rough skin, but we are unable to remove a large build up of dry skin or corns and calluses.  You cannot have a pedicure if you are wearing gels at the time of your appointment.  If you are having a Gel Pedicure, we will only soak off our own gel.  Please arrive with a natural nail.

Facial: we are unable to offer any facial treatments following facial waxing.  Facials must not be performed within 2 weeks of facial botox and fillers.  Please let us know when you book if you have any skin concerns or conditions.  It is essential to let us know if you are taking any medications to treat the skin, prior to booking. We are unable do any facial waxing in the same appointment as a Facial treatment.

Eye Treatments:  please arrive to your appointment without eye make up.  A patch test/skin sensitivity test is essential for all tinting and perming services, which is free of charge and must be administered at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.  Contact lenses must be removed prior to treatment.  If you suffer from any eye disorders, you may be unable to proceed.  Please discuss at the time of arranging your patch test.

Waxing: A patch test is offered and recommended.  Hair should be a minimum of 4mm-6mm long, but no longer than 1cm as this may cause discomfort.  It is advisable to trim the hair to the desired length prior to your appointment.  Please do not apply body lotions on the day you are to be waxed.  Please discuss with the therapist if you have any skin concerns whatsoever.  Clients using retinols, steroids and some acne medications may be unable to receive waxing treatments.  If you have taken any medication and/or not regularly waxed,  please check your suitability to waxing with a us prior to booking your appointment.   Clients having specialist bikini waxes will offered disposable underwear; these are optional.  Outback Organic Opal wax, a peel-able wax is used for superb results and minimised discomfort.  To make your treatment more comfortable and to get the very best results, please exfoliate gently, but regularly.  We stock a range of post wax products.

Fake Bake Cream Tan:  For best results, ensure your skin is regularly exfoliated and moisturised in the run up to your tan, especially the night before.  Please pay particular attention to hands, feet, knees and elbows.  Fake tan is particularly attracted to dry skin!  Ensure all waxing/shaving is done 24-48 hours before your tan.  On the day of your tan, shower in the morning, but don't apply and body lotions or deodorant/antiperspirant, make up or perfume (unless you have opted for the complete luxury tan).  Please ensure you have flip flops and loose dark clothing to wear after your tan.  Allow 8 hours or overnight for your tan to develop, and avoid heavy perspiration and contact with water during the development time.

If you are wearing Fake Tan, massage and scrubs may prematurely fade it.  Waxing will certainly lift it off.  We cannot give you any treatments whilst your tan is developing.

If you have any queries, please just ask!  We are here to put you at ease.

CACI: You will be asked to complete a further consulation form for CACI treatments.  This can be done over the phone when booking to rule out any reasons why we wouldn't be able to offer the treatments.

It is essential to adhere to the aftercare advice thoroughly following any treatment.
